Bobby Butchka is well known along the Gulf Coast as an accomplished singer-songwriter and guitarist, often performing solo and with singer Jana Fredriksen. Butchka was born in southern California, and spent part of his childhood living on the Gulf Coast. He returned to Alabama in 1999 to finish his undergraduate and graduate degrees at USA, after living and performing in the greater New York City area for most of the 1990s.

“Bobby spent a good part of his teens and 20s in New Jersey. That’s how we know him,” friend and collaborator Mike Daly said in a recent press release to promote a tour. “I was in a band called Every Damn Day and he was in two other bands up here, Fear of Falling and the Whatnots, so we shared a lot of bills together. People know how talented he is… he’s a very talented electric guitarist as well.”
